How does the program work?

Everything begins on the Chronus platform. Think of it as your headquarters: it pairs mentors and mentees with a smart match score, offers conversation starters, tracks milestones, and sends friendly nudges so no one loses momentum. The best learning still happens in calls, chats, and coffee meetings—Chronus simply keeps the journey organized and on schedule.

How do I apply?

Enrollment is open year‑round and takes just a few minutes. Click the Join Now button on the Program Overview page, choose the mentor or mentee form, and tell us a bit about your background and goals. You’ll receive a confirmation email with next steps.

Who is eligible to participate?

While IABA membership is strongly encouraged, we welcome anyone who’s enthusiastic about mentoring and committed to fostering an inclusive actuarial community—whether you’re an established professional or just starting out.

Mentor eligibility

Hold a full‑time actuarial role with at least two years of experience.
Commit to regular, meaningful contact with mentees (e.g., monthly check‑ins).
Genuinely care about each mentee’s personal and professional growth.

Mentee eligibility

We’re here for students exploring actuarial science, interns polishing early skills, and professionals in their first few years on the job. If you’re eager to learn, open to feedback, and ready to own your development, you’re exactly who this program is for.

What is the time commitment?

Connections run for six months, with most pairs meeting about once a month. If the relationship is thriving, either party—or an administrator—can request an extension to keep the momentum going.

Will every participant receive a mentor?

The program is mentee‑led: mentees browse recommended mentors (ranked by match score) and send the first request. Most mentees secure a match quickly, but mentor availability can vary, so reach out early and personalize your request for best results.

My mentor or mentee never contacted me or stopped responding—what should I do?

Don’t worry—send a message to our Administrators. We’ll check in with your partner to confirm availability and, if needed, help you find a new match so your development stays on track.

My account was deactivated due to inactivity. How do I reactivate it?

As part of regular maintenance, we temporarily deactivate profiles that haven’t logged in or engaged for an extended period. This keeps the mentor pool fresh and ensures mentees connect with mentors who are actively available.

Reactivating is easy: click the Join Now button on the Program Overview page and sign up again with the same email address. Chronus will restore your profile exactly as you left it—messages, match history, and settings included.
